iink SDK on Device

Keyboard functionality in Nebo app

This is a follow up to the following question:

https://developer-support.myscript.com/support/discussions/topics/16000029779

From your reply, the iink SDK has no support for keyboard input. But we noticed that in Nebo, it is possible to add text with the keyboard to a textbox containing handwritten strokes.

We don't see a way to do that with the functionality provided by the SDK version 1.4 but we might have missed something.

Is it possible to tell us how this was achieved?

Thank you!

Dear Nicolas,

thank you for contacting us and your question.

First, regarding the keyboard by itself, we are not using the "Apple or Android" keyboard, but an internal one. At present, it is not available for Nebo (at present, it is not planned to add it in the iink SDK).

To answer your question, the keyboard data is sent to Nebo via the input method framework of the platform (iOS or Android). We did internal development, re-implementing a "custom Text view".

This development is not available in the iink SDK, and at present, we do not plan to make it available.

Best regards,

Olivier
