Disable or Customize Android TextWidget UI

Is there a way to customize the TextWidget design? For example, I want to get rid of the line in the middle, and change the background color to something other than manilla. I also want to disable the showing of the letters after drawing them.

About the baseline we recommend to keep it because it is very useful in the recognition process (ie disambiguation between lower and uppercase) and for the end user, it shows where to write and helps to manage letter spacing. Finally you can disable the display of typeset text with the following method in configure():
Hope it helps, happy programming!
